Travel grant by DAAD available

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers a limited number of travel grants for CLAIO 2008 participants (Alumni) who fulfill the following requirements:   

Alumni Status:
The DAAD requires that alumni must have studied in Germany or visited latter as a researcher for a consecutive period of at least three months. They should now reside and work in a developing or emerging country (see the list of Developing countries in America below).

Active Participation:
Alumni should submit a talk or be at least admitted to present a poster in a suitable session. In either talk or poster, the DAAD support must be acknowledged.

Language issues:
To increase the international appeal and accessibility the abstracts and slides for all talks should be written in English. Oral presentations in Spanish will be grouped together in special sections and mini-symposia and labeled accordingly in the program.

Academic background:
Alumni should hold a Master’s Degree from a recognized university (preferably Ph.D.).


Application and Selection:

Applicants should register in the Humboldt Megaportal, upload their CV with publication list in the advanced profile and edit Alumni Data (i.e. scientific stay(s) in Germany) in their personal profile. After having upgraded to Alumni Level, they can apply online by submiting their abstracts before the deadline published in the Alumni Portal. The application screening will start together with the abstract selection procedure.


Results:

Successful applicants will be exempted from the conference fee and will receive the reimbursement for their air ticket together with an daily amount of EUR 80 for hotel and daily expenses during the days of the conference.

Central America: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama.
  
South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, Venezuela.
